So keeping ya’ll updating has been a bit more difficult than I anticipated. Internet has been sporadic and not very reliable. But here we are in a great hostel in Seattle with free Wi-Fi and a chance to check email, pay bills, and update our friends and family about our excursion.
I’ve uploaded our first batch of photos on Flickr, so you can check out our Glacier National Park photos here.
Our week in Glacier National Park was bear free, although we heard from fellow hikers that a black bear was seen on the Avalanche Lake trail just a day after we had taken the hike. It scurried off as predicted, but I am still happy to not have seen it.
The Apgar campground was filled with RVs, but we managed to secure a tiny spot among them. We woke up Friday morning (7/18/08) to visitors in our site. A doe and her fawn casually eating breakfast in our site. Stacy and I multiple encounters with the overly tame deer here in the park. In PA we are used to deer, but not the behavior of coming up to you or not running away. Most deer we encounter in PA are skittish. Maybe it’s the result of being shot at.
