Stacy recently went to New York City and since I wasn’t along, he was free to spend all of the time in Academy Records without me hounding him to leave. Naturally he brought back with him some goodies, including a present for
me himself. It’s a 5-disc Dave Brubeck Quartet compilation, complete with the “classic” albums from his career. He thought I might like it too, since I love tolerate jazz. And actually, if that jazz includes the piano playing of Brubeck than I do more than tolerate it. So today I’ve been listening to Time Out, a classic from the classics.
My favorite tune on this album is easily Blue Rondo A La Turk, with Paul Desmond’s swinging intro followed by Brubeck’s jazzy piano sound — it just hits all of my spots.
Today has been a great day of jazz. Cheers to that!
