[POEM] Dear Anonymous

Dear Anonymous

I want to tell you this story
about two individual souls
and love and attraction
but I don’t know where to start.

You’re beautiful. I want you to know.
I haven’t told you because I’m
afraid — of a lot of things. Of –
what is right and what is wrong.

This is about you, but you won’t know.
You’ll never fully know how I feel.
How the sharp intake of breath catches
all of my tiny heart pieces before they fall.

How the moon shifts shape in my eyes
I watch the sky waiting for orange
lights among the darkness, wonder
if that’s you coming to get me.

Just between me and you
I think you’re pretty swell
and given the chance
I’d let you have my heart pieces.
