[POEM] it’s easy to miss you here

it’s easy to miss you here

it’s easy to miss you here
familiar faces
make me want to shout your name
in hopes my calls bring you
back to me

there’s laughter at a nearby table
howls and chuckles from the throat
with you there’s only sighs
contemplation of what’s next
give up or move on or step up

sailing through worlds apart
far away thousand steps
odometer, dirt, bugs
standing in desert dust
kneeling in a dried up river bed

colliding together
tearing up this heat
that burns love
diamonds cut through skin
my eyes scan each blinking light
in the sky, hoping it zigzags
towards me
