[POEM] commute

commute

morning vapor trails as white as snow against ocean colored sky’s / by nightfall these lights disappear over the horizon into darkness

the skyline is edged with mountain tops and trees / hidden trails and silent footsteps / hot breathe against the winter chill / white snow against blue running shoes

coincidences happen just infrequently enough for people to believe / they are something more

today in the light of dawn / the plane turned and with titled wings / descended right above me

planes here fly so close to earth / where I grew up, the planes seemed stuck in the atmosphere / silent steel wings too far away to be real / but here they soar alongside birds / and I wonder if they’ll touch down in the treetops or along telephone wires
