[POEM] the trouble with letting go

the trouble with letting go

you must wash away memories
(no one says you have to)
you must form the words “goodbye”
(but if you don’t, is it still so?)

to sit in the stillness of motion
watch seasons change around
your own reluctance
find ways to fill the hole
recreate the story so it begins
and ends the way it should have

but even the forest clings to green
as autumn approaches
